Each year, the AIA Philadelphia Emerging Architects Committee (PEA) invites Philadelphia’s leading architects, engineers, contractors, design firms and design schools to showcase their imaginations and creativity with large-scale sculptures made of canned food in this design/build competition. CANstruction® Philadelphia is organized by young aspiring architects, designers and philanthropists, and through this event the Philadelphia design community can be a catalyst for positive change in our own backyard.
Since its humble beginning in 2007, CANstruction® Philadelphia has donated nearly half a million pounds of canned food to community food banks. CANstruction® Philadelphia has grown to become the third largest food drive in the region, providing food to those in need across the Delaware Valley through Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization.
CANstruction® is one competition where everyone wins. One CAN make a difference. Learn more about CANstruction Philadelphia.
