Degrees of Design: Student Work From Local Architecture + Design Schools
Exhibitions at the Center are always FREE to visit!
Have you ever wanted to become an architect or designer? Explore the creative work happening in Philadelphia at our local architecture and design schools and discover what it takes to be a succesful design student. The participating schools have chosen a selection of student work from design departments within their institutions - from architecture and interior design to product design and landscape architecture. The work on display represents the diversity of educational philosophies and teaching techniques at Philadelphia's design schools:
- Charter High School for Architecture + Design
- Community College of Philadelphia
- Drexel University
- Moore College of Art + Design
- Philadelphia University
- Temple University
- University of the Arts
- University of Pennsylvania
The Center is excited to showcase creative thinking from next-generation architects and designers. We hope this exhibition will generate discussion among students, teachers, design professionals, and the general public about what good design is and how to educate the next generation of designers and architects - because they will shape the world we all live in tomorrow.
The opening reception and panel discussion on the evening of Thursday, April 6th, presented in partnership with AIA Philadelphia, will explore a topic of interest to current and future design students: Finding Your Career Path. The discussion will be led by Carol Hermann of Philadelphia University and feature six representative of UPenn's 1982 architecture class discussing where they wound up and how they got there.
