In honor of DesignPhiladelphia’s 10th anniversary celebration—and a decade of great design across the region—professional and amateur designers of all ages are invited to creatively reinvent this classic IKEA® mirror as part of the Reflecting Design Silent Auction. Five winning design submissions will be selected by a panel of esteemed jurors; each winner will receive a mirror, generously donated by auction sponsor IKEA®, to bring their concept to life.
The five reinvented mirrors will be featured in the Reflecting Design Silent Auction, taking place on the evening of October 8 during the DesignPhiladelphia Festival Kickoff Party hosted by Bluecadet. The Reflecting Design Silent Auction will also feature fifteen IKEA® mirrors reimagined by notables such as Oprah’s jewelry design darling John Wind/Maximal Art; Philadelphia-based artists Adam Wallcavage and Shelley Spector; furniture maker Tyler Hays of BDDW, recently featured in The Wall Street Journal; and internationally acclaimed Kieran Timberlake Architects. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the year-round education programming and initiatives of DesignPhiladelphia.
Submissions being accepted now through June 22, 2014.
