Twenty artists have been selected from Philadelphia’s pool of nationally and internationally renowned artists and designers. These artists will reimagine an unassuming IKEA ® mirror for the Reflecting Design Silent Auction, the main attraction of our 2014 PopUp Place Kick-Off Benefit and Party. Bidding on these one-of-a-kind creations will begin online prior to PopUp Place, until then have a look through the incredible portfolios of our selected artists.

Art Star is pleased to announce a solo exhibition, titled Within, by Rhode Island based illustrator, Jen Corace. The show will be on view from October 11th through November 16th, 2014. There will be an opening reception held in conjunction with the 2014 DesignPhiladelphia Festival on Saturday, October 11th from 6-9pm. Scarlett Alley was founded by the mother-daughter team Marykay and Liz Scarlett in 1993. The shop offers a selection of go-to gifts, and has grown into a lifestyle store – offering bamboo linens and yoga-inspired designs. We interviewed Liz Scarlett on how the shop has changed in the past twenty years, her musings on design, and what Old City has to offer.

DesignPhiladelphia's 10th anniversary festival launches on the evening of October 8th with an experiential benefit and cocktail party not-to-be-missed! This year's kick off is hosted by Emmy Award-winning digital agency Bluecadet in their new 8,400 square-foot design headquarters in Fishtown - a neighborhood that has quickly become a Philadelphia design destination. PopUp Place guests will explore how inspired design intersects cutting-edge technology and enjoy delicious food and drink while mingling with designers and creatives, movers, and shakers.

The City of Philadelphia Commerce Department and the Community Design Collaborative seek nominations to identify the most distinctive, recently improved storefronts in Philadelphia. Nominations should be submitted online using this form. Entries will be evaluated by a jury consisting of economic development and design professionals, and the winning projects will be recognized at a ceremony on October 14. The event will highlight businesses that have demonstrated care and uniqueness in how they represent themselves to their customers and the public through their storefronts.

In honor of DesignPhiladelphia’s 10th anniversary celebration—and a decade of great design across the region—professional and amateur designers of all ages are invited to creatively reinvent this classic IKEA® mirror as part of the Reflecting Design Silent Auction. Five winning design submissions will be selected by a panel of esteemed jurors; each winner will receive a mirror, generously donated by auction sponsor IKEA®, to bring their concept to life.
