Celebrate A Decade of Design with the DesignPhiladelphia Festival this October. The annual event commemorates technology and architecture in Philadelphia and exhibits the work of more than 400 local designers, architects, and creative businesses. Previously housed at the University of the Arts, this year the festival will operate from the Philadelphia Center for Architecture; DesignPhiladelphia Founder and Executive Director Hilary Jay was recently named director of the Center for Architecture, as well. Since its launch in 2005, Design-Philadelphia has expanded into a nine-day affair with more than 100 events. Attendees can look forward to anniversary celebrations (Roche Bobois’s 40th, with Stephen Burks and the Traveler Collection), panel discussions (Looking at Interiors: Three Perspectives), and Old City Fest, which will include district favorites such as Panorama, Scout Vintage, Sassafras, and Franklin Fountain; pop-up theater and music; and wood type printing demonstrations presented by AIGA Philadelphia and the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum. The festival kicks off October 8 with an evening beneft, PopUp Place, hosted by Emmy Award-winning digital agency Bluecadet, in its new Fishtown headquarters. October 9-17, multiple locations
