Minima presents Design + Self Manufacturing: How the World Will Change
Opening Reception on Friday, October 11 | 6:00PM to 9:00PM Exhibition on view October 10-18 Minima, 118 North 3rd Street Free and open to the public. For DesignPhiladelphia 2013, Minima is looking towards the future. The shop/gallery, which was opened in 1999 by Eugenie Perret and Juliette Brody in Philadelphia's Old City, has become the area's preeminent source for all things modern. The cutting edge contemporary furniture showroom will be hosting an exhibition entitled Design + Self Manufacturing: How the World Will Change, along with a series of demonstrations and workshops meant to explore the fast changing world of fabrication technology and the social implications of how 3D printing, accessible to the masses, will change the future. Perret explains, "We like to be design frontiers. This will be the next industrial revolution." The exhibition, which is on view the length of the DesignPhiladelphia Festival, October 10-18, will include an opening reception the evening of October 11th. Minima hopes the exhibition and accompanying events will spark the public's interest and light a creative force behind this cutting edge change to the design industry. Perret thinks in the near future we are going to be living in 3D printed houses, situated in 3D printed cities! To learn more about Minima, visit their website.
