Rethinking Design Education : a panel discussion

October 14th, 6:00-8:00pm.
Crane Arts, Gallery 105

Does design education lack imagination? While trash heaps and sweatshops accumulate, design programs remain fixated on a curriculum fashioned at the height of Machine Age utopia. Could design education be better optimized to support entrepreneurial initiatives like upcycling, repair workshops, resource-sharing, retrofitting, recoding and re-conceptualizing space?

Panelists include: Denise Gonzales-Crisp (North Carolina State University), Andrew Dahlgren (Parsons the New School), Alex Gilliam (Public Workshop)

Chair: Peter Hall (Griffith University Queensland College of Art)

Free and Open to the Public

Presented by Griffith University- Queensland College of Art, Design Program. Brisbane, Australia
