But, those opportunities are available all year long in Philadelphia’s diverse design communities, just check out this schedule o August workshops handpicked by our DP team from some of the busiest coworking spaces in Philadelphia.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 | 1PM – 5PM

Learn how to make a dreamcatcher from scratch while incorporating some basic taxidermy technique with assorted elements of raw natural materials into your design. Humanely sourced skins of birds, fur from rabbit, squirrel and deer, along with a plethora of fabric and charm embellishments will be provided. Examples of varying sizes and states of completion will be shown for inspiration. No previous experience necessary. Click here for more information.

MASTER TAILOR FOR OPERA PHILADELPHIA

SUNDAYS BEGINNING SEPT 7 | 5PM – 8PM

Learn to design and create beautiful menswear pieces with the fit you’ve always been looking for. This 8 week course will guide you through the making of a men’s button-down shirt and pant from our very own production pattern collection. Fly-fronts, pockets, plackets, cuffs, collars, hems, interfacings, and sleeves are just some of the techniques that students will leave with. Upon completion of this course, students can then go on to Menswear 2-Tailoring, where we will be teaching how to construct a fully tailored suit jacket from scratch. WOOD PREPARATION AT NEXTFAB
JOINTER, PLANER, AND WIDE BELT SANDER

SEPTEMBER 10 | 8PM – 10PM

Learn to prepeare rough sawn wood for use in all your woodworking projects! This class will go over safe use of the jointer, planer, and wide belt sander – machiens used to flatten, straighten, and square wood for projects. Participants will practice using the machines, and glue up boards to make a cutting board. Unsupervised access to the jointer, planer, and wide belt sander will be granted after class. MADE Studio is excited have Drexel University’s accessories, costume, and fashion design professor, Bella Vecksler, Learn to design and create a wool felted hat in the style of your choice. Just in time for the cold months ahead, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind hat to adorn and warm you through the season. This is a two part workshop. Space is very limited. Click here for more information.

CLAY CLINICS | WHEEL THROWING
AT THE CLAY STUDIO

SATURDAY SEPT 27 | 2:30PM – 5PM

Enjoy a relaxing, creative afternoon playing on the potter’s wheel. Explore the basics of centering clay and throwing bowls and cylinders on the wheel. More experienced participants will be guided individually by the instructor depending n your interests and level. Led by an experienced instructor, these fun and informative workshops are designed for those who are curious about clay or want to further their skills without the commitment of a class.
