PAFA presents David Lynch: The Unified Field on view September 13, 2014 through January 11, 2015. The Unified Field is the first major US museum exhibition of David Lynch, who attended PAFA briefly in the 60's, featuring works from all periods of the filmmaker’s career: approximately 90 paintings and drawings from 1965 to present, many of which have rarely or never been shown to the public.more

The 17th annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival, dubbed Brave New Voices, is coming to Philadelphia this week. Read more about BNV on the web here. The week of events, celebrating and challenging creative approaches to literary arts education and literacy development in young people, culminates this weekend with Hoodstock, presented in partnership with Philadelphia Urban Creators. This event will feature discussions and learning opportunities on gardening, permaculture, food justice, free breakfast, storytelling, live performances and community activism. Featured programming includes urban gardening, the MC Olympic Finals, and food grown by Philadelphia Urban Creators. Featured Presenters include host Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Astronauts Really Fly, among others.more

Join artist Ben Volta and members of the Restorative Justice Guild program for the dedication of Amplify, a mural that mimics sounds projecting from a gramophone and amplifying as it moves across the wall. Guild members explored and extensively photographed the Union Transfer building and collectively developed a unique design reflecting on properties of music, sounds and the amplification of voice.
