You see it on buildings, streets, posters, shirts, blankets, even cookies! PATTERNS, PATTERNS, EVERYWHERE! Join us for a reading of Bobby and June George’s My First Book of Patterns, art by Boyoun Kim.
This first-ever patterns concept book provides young audiences the vocabulary to name what they see in the world around them. The ten most prevalent patterns are presented as a single element, then as a pattern.
Every grown-up and young designer will explore the color, shapes, and design their own pattern to take home.
We are inviting both READ + MAKE (5-8yo) and DESIGN + BUILD (9-12yo) families in this combined workshop to learn about architecture and design through fundamental principles every designer and discipline learn in school.
About READ + MAKE Workshops
Explore the world of architecture + design with your 5-8yo child at these fun family workshops! Featuring a reading of a creative tale, your child (with your assistance) will make a project which solves a design challenge related to the reading. A great introduction for young minds to the career opportunities available in the fields of architecture, design, and construction. We offer fun, new workshops each month (more often during our annual Constructing Play exhibition), so you can come again and again to work with others and build something amazing!
Have an older child? Check out our DESIGN + BUILD Workshops!
About DESIGN + BUILD Workshops

Have fun as you and your 9-12yo child learn about design, build a project from your imagination, and hone your creative problem-solving skills. We offer fun, new workshops each month (more often during our annual Constructing Play exhibition), so you can come again and again to work with others and build something amazing!
