Strength, Knowledge, Cooperation – AGI’s Architectural Glass Boot Camps

October 26, 2016 | DesignPhiladelphia

AGI recognizes that continuing education is a critical element of business today. As an approved education provider of the AIA Continuing Education System (AIA/CES), AGI maintains a commitment to providing the architectural community with the most relevant and cutting-edge educational programs.

AGI’s Architectural Glass Boot Camp program exposes architects in greater Philadelphia to the glazing craft through interactive instruction and hands-on application. In hands-on workshops, architects work alongside glaziers to learn construction techniques and share perspective.

Boot Camp reinforces the importance of collaboration and communication by providing an opportunity for emerging design professionals to interface with apprentice glaziers. The program enhances the educational experience by providing participants with a forum for discussing complex construction issues.

Boot Camp sessions have provided participants with hands-on experience cutting glass, constructing stick built curtainwall, storefronts, skylights, interior partitions, and dynamic glass, plus virtual welding and more.

The Fall 2016 Boot Camp lineup features leading-edge products and topics. The September program addressed dynamic glazing, also called electrochromic glass, a new and efficient means of computerized solar control to manage heat and glare. The interactive program delved into the occupant experience and how to optimize daylighting and aesthetics. Attendees learned how dynamic glass differs from conventional glazing and participated in a hands-on experience constructing a dynamic curtain wall assembly.

Don’t miss our next Boot Camp November 28 focusing on building enclosure commissioning (BECx) and testing. Intertek Regional Manager of Building Sciences, Jennifer Keegan will explain the connection between a functional building enclosure and occupant health and safety. The program includes a hands-on test of stick-built curtain wall per the performance verification testing model of BECx.

AGI welcomes the opportunity to conduct private boot camp sessions for architecture firms or to develop a customized program. To schedule a seminar, request more information, or discuss a custom session, call Stephanie Staub at (215) 825-1422 or email [email protected] today.
